The Mad Apprentice Continues The Forbidden Library Series

I received The Mad Apprentice in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

In The Mad Apprentice, we join Alice a few months after The Forbidden Library. Her special power realization, still has her studying with her Geryson to be a Reader. the game in The Mad Apprentice becomes even bigger.

An older, well-known Reader is killed by their apprentice, Jacob, and Alice joins the Readers to see if the books are all in order and bring in the killer apprentice--dead or alive.

We enjoyed this book and found that while The Forbidden Library was perhaps a mystery, The Mad Apprentice is more an action genre. It's a fun ride as the Library Labyrinth is quite the character.

The character of Alice is developing and readers really see that she is a thinker who is able to use her head. She is compassionate and deeply cares for the creatures that assist her. There is a dragon that Alice interacts with that made my daughter nearly cry! Alice is a great leader and persistent.

In The Mad Apprentice, we learn the outcome of Alice's father's death.
