Perfect Combination: 7 Key Ingredients to Happily Living & Loving Together

Every so often a fairytale comes along. Catherine Middleton is one and Jamillah and David Lamb certainly are in one. This post is about the latter two, the Lambs, who fell in love at first sight and have since been inseparable. Their love has created a daughter, Kaira.

He was born and raised in New York City. She in Chicago, Illinois. They both attended college in different cities. They graduated and each was hired by the same investment firm. She was part of the West Coast Firm and he was part of the East Coast firm.

They had never met when David Lamb saw Jamillah's picture in a staff photo hanging on an office wall. Upon seeing her picture he said, "I'm going to marry that girl."

The two were introduced at the company's California headquarters and instantly fell madly in love with one another. Those feelings intensified during their dating and continue to be nourished by their marriage.

Perfect Combination: Seven Key Ingredients to Happily Living & Loving Together

Their book, Perfect Combination: Seven Key Ingredients to Happily Living & Loving Together is more than a how to book, but a personal memoir. I love the title and the theme of the recipe. After reading their story it is even more fitting as they are the producers of the hit off-Broadway play Plantanos y Collard Greens, now in its ninth year running. The book stays true to its theme with each chapter concluding with a summary of "Key Ingredients". There are headings like "Lighten Up" followed by their tried and true advice for "Cooking with Love". I love the simplicity of these suggestions. There is nothing over the top or that a budget will be limited by. They are things like, ""Plan a surprise date for your partner" or "Dance in the living room together"."

They are a couple working side by side creating a business and nourishing a marriage. It has made them stronger and this book is a glimpse at their life together and how they are making it all balance and work.

I enjoyed this book and think it offers some great information. No relationship is perfect, but I do believe it's possible to grow a relationship.

Perfect Combination would make a great read for anyone in a relationship, a bride-to-be or someone still seeking their soul mate.

I leave you with Jamillah and David Lamb's recipe for finding balance in a relationship:

2 Heaping Cups of Appreciation

1 Cup Self-Knowledge

1 Cup Modesty

1 Cup Trust
