The Carb Lovers Diet Cookbook: Recipes that Inspire

love to cook and it shows in my waistline that I also like to eat what I cook. From time to time I visit the Carb Lovers Diet and enjoy eating foods that are different from "diet" food and more along the lines of what I like to eat. Now to compliment the diet, The Carb Lovers Diet Cookbook launches and it's delightful!

This review isn't about the diet, though the book does provide a 1200 calories per day Kick Start Meal Plan; nor is this pointing fingers at what you should or should not eat, it's about one of my favorite types of books, a cookbook. It's about what brings so many of us together, food.

With 150 recipes that are balanced and healthy, it's a great way to incorporate good eating habits into our quest for a healthier lifestyle. The recipes are delicious to just read over, and like all good things, just because "diet" is in the title doesn't mean portion control is going out the window.

Every recipe is followed with nutritional information and a note on the resistant starch in that recipe. Some photos will make you drool and a handy, at-a-glance icon key that identifies if a recipe is vegetarian, low-sodium, kid-friendly, or a make-ahead possibility.

None of the recipes appear over the top complex. There are recipes for one and recipes for many.

There are recipes for cocktails, a great reminder that we can still have a social life while eating better.

You know something about food is good when  Guy Fieri shows up. He has a recipe tucked inside the pages of The Carb Lovers Diet Cookbook!

For Easter, I'm tempted to make the Coconut Cake with 7-Minute Frosting on page 244.

I can admit it, I'm a carb junkie, and while my waistline needs some improvement, this cookbook shows that we can keep carbs in our diet and be healthy. It is a guide for creating foods with resistant sugars that fill and help burn calories throughout the day.

This book would be perfect for anyone wanting to eat healthier...it's not about losing weight, but rather incorporating fruits, veggies and whole grains into our eating habits. There's plenty of selection here to keep you coming back for more.
